John Denbok joins SIM Canada as Executive Director, effective August 1, 2012. John comes to SIM Canada with a background in both business and missions. He began his business career working on his own apple farm, expanding into food processing, property development and solar energy. He was president of an apple storage, packaging and distribution company and later founded a $9 million juice processing company.
In 2001, John moved from business into missions. His passion is connecting God’s people to God’s work. John was Executive Director of International Needs Canada and later in 2008 became International President of International Needs Network – a global Christian mission organization focusing on empowering national workers in evangelism, discipleship, and community development. John will join SIM Canada from his current position as President of Partners Worldwide Canada, a new charity empowering Christian business people to live out their faith in the market place and address global poverty using employment-based solutions. John will remain on the Board of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada.
John is married, with six children and two grandchildren. He has an undergraduate Degree with a major in Agriculture Economics and Business from Guelph University and a post-graduate Degree in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary.
SIM (Serving In Mission) began in 1893 as Soudan Interior Mission and through various mergers is now a global, interdenominational mission with close to 2,000 missionaries serving in over 70 countries worldwide including a growing number of missionaries serving in Canada.
